Welcome to Your New Beginning

The Behavioral Health of the Palm Beaches offers treatment for alcohol and drug addiction with residential treatment programs that last up to 90 days. We can also arrange post-discharge extended care for patients in need of additional tools to help with their recovery process. Our program consists of intensive addiction treatment with supportive sober living. Psychiatric and medical services are available to our clients 24 hours a day. Addiction treatment is designed individually for each patient with a strong emphasis on the twelve-step approach to drug and alcohol recovery. At the Behavioral Health of the Palm Beaches, our patents live in supervised, hotel-style living spaces. Our dedicated addiction treatment staff provide transportation and support 24 hours a day. Assessments, extended care, sober living, education, individual and group therapy, and personalized lifestyle plans are designed to support ongoing sober recovery. Many of our professional treatment staff are licensed and/or certified in addiction treatment counseling. We also offer a wide variety of holistic and wellness therapies.

Founder

Donald K. Mullaney, Ph.D., founder and Executive Director of Center for Alcohol and Drug Studies, an internationally known addiction treatment organization, passed away on July 6th, 2009 at the age of 65 after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Debbie and his daughter Megan. His son, Sean passed away in the summer of 2011. After starting his own recovery journey in 1983, Don began a counseling program as a private therapist in Palm Beach County. Don sought to learn as much as he could to help others and earned his bachelor’s degree in 1969, followed by a MSW in 1988 and his PhD in 1996. In January of 1997, Don realized his dream with a small 12-bed residential program known as the Center for Alcohol and Drug Studies. This program has since grown into a continuum of care featuring the most modern and highest-quality treatment interventions available along with the best of adjunct holistic therapies. Throughout all of his work in the field, Don always believed in the importance of proving the effectiveness of treatment through research results, leading him to establish CADS program for research, education and training. Don shared this research with other professionals and care providers, and published several research articles over the years. He also conducted numerous workshops and training seminars for a variety of individuals and groups in the field, sharing knowledge that has helped people battle addiction over the years. In addition to his strong belief in the importance of research, Don always had an appreciation for the importance of spirituality as well. Don felt this spirituality on a deeply personal level that he tried to incorporate into treatment at CADS.
